Frequently Asked Questions
How does Flight Refund work?
The Air Passenger communicates his/her intention to conclude the Assignment Agreement with PannonHitel by registering on the following website: www.flight-refund.hu. Flight Refund Kft is the exclusive cooperation partner of PannonHitel in refunding claims for Air Passengers.
Flight Refund verifies the content of data provided by the Air Passenger during the procedure. If the Air Passenger is entitled to compensation in accordance with the Regulation and on the basis of the information provided by him/her, Flight Refund will calculate the highest possible amount of the Claim. Then, with the Air Passenger’s approval of the General Terms and Conditions as well as the conditions of the Assignment Agreement, the agreement will be concluded between PannonHitel and the Air Passenger.
Flight Refund sends an official letter about the outstanding claim in which it informs the Airline about the assignment and the outstanding claim for compensation against the Airline. When this official letter has been sent, the Air Passenger may see in his/her own user surface a sign called “procedure in progress” and by clicking onto this sign he/she may see the details.
If any part of the out of court stage is successful, and the Airline pays the total amount of the outstanding claim, Flight Refund will send a notification to the e-mail address given by the Air Passenger. At the same time, it displays “successful claiming procedure”.
If the Airline does not answer the official letter within 30 days , the enforcement of the claim enters the legal action stage.
Why should I claim for compensation?
Under European Law (Reg. 261/2004) air passengers are entitled to compensation of up to 600 EUR in the event of longer than 3 hours delay, cancellation or denied boarding due to overbooking.
What is Regulation 261/2004?
Regulation 261/2004 of the European Parliament and of the European Council of 11 February 2004 established common rules on compensation and assistance to passengers in the event of:
a.) denied boarding,
c.) long delay of flights
Is this Regulation valid for all flights?
Beyond the flights travelling within the European Union, the Regulation can also be implemented for flights either departing from or arriving to any EU countries. When a flight departing from a non-EU country the operating Airline has to be registered in the EU and the flight has to have an EU destination. Regulation 261/2004 is directly applicable to and is a mandatory not only in Hungary but also in the 27 Member States of the European Union. Moreover it is to be used in the states of the European Economic Area, thus in Norway, Iceland, Lichtenstein and it also applies in Switzerland.
